On March 1, 2023, I started a challenge with my Sister and my Niece to begin with a Fast to get into Ketosis and then once in Ketosis, stay in Ketosis for one year. My niece, being a teenager and an active athlete will not do the fasting part but she does want to eat Keto like her mom. We don’t have rules on what or when to eat but we are making fasting a big part of this challenge. As long as we stay in Ketosis we can eat whatever we want. My sister loves the keto way of eating and so do I but I also love the carnivore way of eating so I will lean more towards Ketovore… Sugar and Carbs over 20 grams a day is off the menu for me. I’m allergic to them and can never have them again but I can and will make a keto version of the foods that I like.
My Results So Far…
I started my fasting app a little after 10 pm on Tuesday night, February 28th… the next morning I weighed in and was shocked to see that I had gained 11 lbs since November 2022. I wasn’t really surprised though since I had so much swelling in my legs, especially my left leg which was twice the size as my right leg. The pain in my back was mega intense all day every day. I have to get this weight off. So I challenge my sister to a Stay in Ketosis for One Year Challenge. We can eat whatever it takes for us to stay in Ketosis. We decided to fast 72 hours once a month together but this is not a rule of the challenge, just a tool to stay in Ketosis because fasting produces mega weight loss and the motivation that brings makes it all worthwhile.
I drank only Diet Coke (doesn’t spike insulin) and Water with LMNT Citrus Salt flavored electrolytes until Saturday at 1:15pm when I turned off my fasting tracker and drank a protein shake… at 4 pm I made my first meal, 2 scrambled eggs with mozzarella cheese and sausage (See my video down below… BG’s Egg Bowl). About an hour later I drank another Protein Shake… I’m drinking water now with a tsp of MSM ( lemon/lime flavor)… I weighed in and I’ve lost 13.7 lbs… With the 11 lbs gained since November, 2022, this is a net loss of 2.7 lbs.
I’m using FastingSecret app to track my fasts and my weight and my body measurements. I’m also using a Weigh In app to track my weight. I love both of these apps because they are clean and have no fluff to sell.
